Nicole Ari Parker was born in New York City. The actress is American stage and film actor. Her most famous role is was that of Teri, the passionate attorney Teri Jospehson on the Showtime show Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe became her stage name upon her marriage. From the time she was a child, Nikki Kodjoe was a naturally talented actor. In a Maryland competition with high school students, she took home the award for the best Actress. The path to acting began when she was employed by the Washington Ballet Company as well as theater. There was a lot of praise for her first big performance as a character in The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love. Later came films such as 'Boogie Nights Spark & Blue Streak. Soul Food, her TV show, was widely praised due to her performance. In addition, she was a part of TV shows like Second Time Around' and Empire. Contractor, born at Mumbai in India and grew up in Nigeria from the time she was seven. She was already exposed to numerous travel experiences and cultures from a early age. After attending boarding schools for seven years in London, her family relocated to Toronto Canada where she spent most of her youth and early adulthood. Contractor was a student and a dancer of classical style in Toronto. In the Etobicoke School of the Arts (a public school for high schools that is specialized in arts) she studied ballet and theater. Contractor was just 16 when she realized that acting was going to be her career. Dance was her passion for almost 10 year. Following her graduation from high school Contractor received a scholarship from the University of Toronto to pursue an undergraduate degree in psychology and sociology. In addition, she obtained a master's degree in Theater. Contractor attended the highly-regarded Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Canada, for Pericles. After one full year, she was given the role of lead. After two weeks of performances, she got positive reviews. The production was recognized as the best production by Canadian reviewers. Contractor was offered the opportunity to take part in the conservatory course, in which the top eight men and four women are accepted to take a crash course of 20 weeks on classical theater which she was eager to take. Contractor was offered a slot for the following season. She was also offered the role of Hermia.
